WHICH APPLE IS YOUR FAVORITE?
Did you know there are over 7,500 different varieties of apples grown in the world and only a few hundred are commercially available? Namely the Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Gala apples in the US. Out of the thousands of varieties, you will always catch me with a Fuji apple, my all time favorite.Â

But what makes an apple truly special compared to other fruits? It’s versatile texture and flavor. Apples can be eaten fresh, baked or cooked and still, in any form, are a good source of fiber, vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. They are also low in calories and fat, and may help protect against cancers and chronic diseases; hence, the saying ‘an apple a day, keeps the doctor away.’

Aside from the health benefits, apples are great as is with a meal or as a snack, and this week, I’m exploring new recipe varieties for cooking, baking and eating apples with the whole family in mind. Check them out here!
