CINNAMON: THE SPICE OF LIFE

National Cinnamon Day is this week, so let’s celebrate one of the most beloved and versatile spices in the world. From sweet to savory, cinnamon can enhance the flavor of a wide variety of dishes.

Cinnamon is made from the inner bark of several species of trees from the genus Cinnamon. It has a warm, sweet flavor with a slightly woody aroma. Cinnamon is used in cuisines all over the world, and it is a key ingredient in many traditional dishes, such as chai tea, cinnamon rolls, and apple pie.

Cinnamon is more than just a delicious spice. It also has a number of health benefits. Cinnamon is a good source of antioxidants, and it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties. Cinnamon may also help to improve heart health and cholesterol levels.

As someone with a latin cultural background, I am very familiar with this spice. My fondest memory is staying at my grandparents’ house in Miami and my grandma making me horchata with extra cinnamon, and plan to incorporate this into my recipes. So join me in celebrating the spice of life and check out my new recipes here!
